October 8, 2012:
There is nothing happier than watching people you love come to Christ
This week was alright, but this weekend is what I am going to talk about today. Actually just yesterday. And the day before that. We met this young man on the town square--was it Friday? And he stopped to talk to us! He told us he had just moved here to study. We exchanged numbers, and I asked him to come to Church. He told us that he had decided to start believing in Christ THREE weeks ago when he ran into some issues and needed somewhere to turn. So he went to the church, and a pastor helped him realize he needed God. So here [he] is, three weeks after starting to believe, talking to the missionaries in a country he has just moved to, and ready to hear our message! So great. We invited him to Church in Zvolen, because he lives there actually, and he came!!! We met him outside and explained to him that the Church is new in Zvolen, so there won’t be many people there. I could sense that he was really nervous walking up the stairs to our building, because it was kind of iffy! Haha, but once we got in, the Nyes greeted him as well as the Elders. It was just us missionaries and two members who came and [him]. And it was Fast And Testimony Meeting. Hahah, and while I was playing the piano I watched his face, and he looked so scared! But we all just loved him, and during testimonies he really calmed down, and I could tell he was enjoying it. During Sunday school we learned about God and why we need Christ, and Sister Brimhall and I really participated, and it looked like he was just DRINKING, because he was thirsty. It was so beautiful, and after Church [he] decided to stay and sit for a lesson. The Elders taught him [about] The Restoration with the Nyes, and it went so well. Sister Brimhall and I were waiting for them out in the little foyer thing at the building, and we were supposed to be doing language study, but I couldn’t help but just sit there and listen! I was so happy. I kept grabbing Sister Brimhall and saying, "Listen! They are teaching him about the Book of Mormon!" Hahah, and she was like “Yes Sister Izatt.” And then I would hear him say something beautiful, and I would just [be so excited].
Ah it was so magical! I love missionary work, and when you are a missionary you don’t think much of asking people if they will change their WHOLE LIFE and be baptized into this Church they have just met, but when you are watching it and listening, it is just amazing that people actually say yes! [This investigator] agreed that if he found out these things were true that he'd be baptized! I was just dying out there with joy. The missionaries set up with him for again this week, and he said he'd come to English [class]. I love being a part of this work. Even though [he] isn’t our investigator anymore, because he lives in Zvolen, he is a part of my prayers and is a miracle! I really hope everything goes well with him. Hopefully he'll come to Sports Day with the Elders this week! After the lesson Sister Brimhall was like, “Um, Sister Izatt, it doesn’t even look like you've been studying! He's going to think we were spying on him.” Hahah, so I grabbed a Book of Mormon and pretended to start reading, but the second he came through the door I jumped up and said, "I am SO happy you came to Church today!" Hahahhaha, but I couldn’t help it. Sister Brimhall was cracking up, and it was beautiful. [He] said he was happy he came as well! Ah so beautiful.
And at Church, even though we hadn’t had many lessons this week, we had FIVE investigators show up to Banska. FIVE. And it was so perfect, because two of our investigators already knew each other from work and just got along so well and even exchanged emails, haha, so cute! And I was just watching them all sitting by one of the members during Sunday School, and I was so happy to be alive and be a witness to that. There is nothing happier than watching people you love come to Christ, and watching them listen and try to understand and apply gospel principles! It was a beautiful Sunday. Just perfect. And that night we went over to the Elders for a quick dinner with the Nyes, and it was just POURING RAIN and so cold, but I felt so much like a missionary, and we were all just laughing, and I just love life sometimes you know?! I wish you could all be here. I can’t WAIT to watch home movies up in heaven. I want to show you all everything I am seeing. It better be recorded!
Darn it, I gotta go. Email time just flies. We have a lesson right now with [another investigator]. She might even be baptized!
Keep me in your prayers!
